Back in the days, when I was a kid, you could find me and my sisters wearing fresh white KEDS sneakers with pretty dress socks. While in Borders, I took a journey through the desert sands of Egypt to the sparkling snow of the Russian tundra, traveling the globe like royalty through the tales of fourteen dazzling princesses!

What a journey I had, such a beautiful journey...I meet Nukka, the Eskimo Princess, Taia, the Tahitian Princess, Rehani, the African Princess and so many more across the globe. The royal excursion was phenomenal and sweet, as I flipped across the pages of the book that created a real-life illusion. As if I were jet setting across the globe, visiting each princess and engaging in their culture.

This literature should be a bed side must for all young girls across the globe. The illustrations are created for all ethnicities and cultures for young girls to identify themselves with. I believe this book is not only healthy for self-image, but educational. Whoever decides to take a journey, while reading this book, will be in for an amazing treat! As a meal, I could eat oatmeal morning, noon and night, or just for a plain old snack. Oatmeal is soooo good! And, can be eaten in so many different ways. I choose to add fruits (blueberries, bananas, & strawberries) and honey, as a sweetener to my bowl of oatmeal. Often times, I find myself in persuading conversations with others, who question my desire to eat oatmeal morning, noon and night. So, here are my 5 points of persuasion, as to why everyone should eat & LOVE oatmeal, like I do!

Oatmeal may help lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. Several studies has shown, the positive health correlation between eating 3/4 cups of oatmeal a day and lower cholesterol levels. Oats are consisted of soluble fibers, which helps keep the "bad cholesterol down.In 1997, the Food and Drug Administration announced that oatmeal could carry a label claiming it may reduce the risk of heart disease when combined with a low-fat diet.
Oatmeal may reduce the risk of certain cancers. Fibers and other nutrients will fight for you, if you increase your intake of oats.
Oatmeal contains a wide array of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Vitamins, minerals and antioxidants are a + to your overall health of your body. Be good to yourself.
Oatmeal is quick and convenient. If your working or going to 8 o'clock classes, you can sprinkle some oats in a bowl, pour milk or water, and pop in the microwave for less than 3 minutes, to have a warm and traveling meal for breakfast, while on the run. Sometimes, I put my oatmeal in cup and drink while driving. Drinking oatmeal is the only drinking & driving, I will encourage.
Oatmeal is absolutely delicious! Like I said, you can eat oatmeal with great toppings and mixtures. Add blueberries, bananas, raisins, strawberries, or your favorite fruit of choice, with a few circles of honey and/or a dash of cinnamon.

When I hear the songs of Diana Ross & The Supremes, instantly I transform into the the third back up singer or the re-invented Diana Ross, as if I was a shining Motown star. And to be honest, the soulful pop lyrics sung by The Supremes and other Motown hit artists, is what I call real music--legendary music!

Diana Ross and The Supremes were considered an overnight success story during the late 50's. The graceful original members were Diana Ross, the lead singer, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard, who met in Detroit's Brewters housing projects. From there, the group was destined for success in music show biz, with five consecutive number one hits on the chart from 1964-1965 (also including "Baby Love," "Stop! In the Name of Love," "Come See About Me," and "Back in My Arms Again").

One thing about me, I do not buy music CDs. Why? Not sure. I guess I can just borrow from die heart buyers. However, only under one circumstance will I buy a CD and that's if its considered ol' skool, legendary music, that's REAL MUSIC and not all this new stuff, called music like " LOL, smile face", "5 star chick" and etc. So, with that being mentioned, I appreciate Motown, Doo Wop, Rock n' Roll, Funk & Energetic 80's music. The gel inserts for ball of the foot are great but they are just cushioning not really addressing the problem of forefoot pain in heels!

HM:So I want to talk about the album, In Love & War. What is it all about?
Amerie: It’s pretty much about the ups and downs in a relationship. Not so much the ups, but it’s more about the downs of the relationship or coming to the other side after going through trials and tribulations. It’s definitely a less idealized viewpoint of relationships — just the things that we go through to grow as individuals, being individuals and being in a relationship and what that means.

HM:Did that change how you approach relationships?
Amerie: Yes, because of something that my Dad always told me a long time ago. A guy is always going to show you his cards. Whether you choose to look at those cards for what they are or whether you just choose to act like you don’t’ see them, a man will always show you his cards. So don’t act surprised later when something happens, because you saw it already in the beginning and you chose not to heed that. And that is really true. So how did that change me? I didn’t hang around and try and figure a guy out a million different ways, like maybe this or maybe he was sick or maybe he just whatever. It’s like, it is what it is. We’ve got to start wasting time and energy on a situation when there’s nothing to figure out. And we tend to do that all the time. We’re so good at that.

Alittle Bit of Brow Talk

Brows are such a powerful weapon for the face structure. Brows are like the frame of a picture, they always seal the face structure and always visible, front in center for everyone to see. When I decide to allow my brows to be free,bushy or go un-groomed for a while, I wonder what people are thinking in their minds. Like, "wow her eyebrows are really bushy, thick and need to be cleaned up..." But sometimes I have to let them be free and grow all over the place, due to one reason more than likely: A previous experience of allowing someone to groom my brows and they were not done correctly. I prefer a thick, full, simple shape brow, over a thin arch. Why? Thicker brows define the face more, plus I love the look of feeling beauty vintage from the 1950's and 1960's. I am in the process of learning how to correctly groom my powerful weapons (brows) right from my own bathroom. I rather mess up my own brows and deal with the annoying growth process for two months or even longer, than to have someone as mess me up. When I groom my eyebrows each morning, whether in the horrible growing back process or safistiedly perfect, I always do the following:

Brush brows upward and over into their defined shape pattern.
Apply a layer of brow gel to unruly strands of hair
Create more definition to the brow, by touching up with a brow shadow using an short angler brush. Magic!

Groom your own brows from home?
Here are some tips to consider.

Brush your brows upward and snip the tips as conservatively as possible.
Clear away obvious stray hairs.
Pluck between your brows—with restraint. They should begin just above the inner corners of your eyes.
Tweeze from underneath the brows to open up the arch, removing one row of hair from beginning to end.
Draw an imaginary line from the edge of your nostril to the outer corner of your eye: That's where your brow should end.
The less you do, the better off you are. A full, simple shape is most flattering.

All praises goes to the surgeons, designer Douglas Little, Dell & Bergdorf Goodman’s senior director of visual presentation, David Hoey, who teamed up to make the croc-skin, Swarovski crystal, luxe trimmings laptops a fashion reality. The collaboration between designer, mogul tech and high-end department store created a limited- edition of opulent Adamo laptop skins, which evoke a meaning “Tales of Technology".

Yay! I will be attending a wedding this Saturday. I am so excited to partake in all the festies of a wedding, like the Bachelorette Party. The wedding eve parties, the heart-felt, touching wedding day its self and the high energy, full of life receptions afterward are always pleasurable, enjoyable and inspirational. I truly look forward to the day when I'm blessed to grace the aisle of a cathedral, meet and join hands with my life-long partner at the alter... Sigh...

Since, I am considered a special guest, I am advised to wear a pastel green dress. For some reason, I thought my perfect dress would be simple to find---I guess I was wrong. Pastel green is not one of the hottest colors for the summer, like turquoise is, so I have to strap on the fashionsita thinking cap and come up with a plan, to find the perfect dress for a special occasion. After reading about 20 facebook status updates on my phone about Micheal Jackson passing and walking in the door to my Dad saying "Did you hear the news?" I jumped to the nearest flat screen and tuned into CNN. Although, I was in disbelief, while hearing the news from facebook, the radio and family, CNN was my only trusted source. It was true, the King of Pop had taken his last breath of his life.

Growing up in the late 80's and early 90's, Micheal Jackson was the jig in my high-watered pants , the twitching of my hands, the bruises on my tip-toes, and the squeaking of my gym shoes, while attempting to do the moon-walk. From the hit jams Billie Jean, Thriller, Pretty Young Thang, Bad, Beat it, The Way You Make Me Feel, Scream, Rock With You & Butterflies, MJ has inspired so many music artists and touched millions for people across the world with his passion for music.

My deepest condolences goes out to his friends and family,MJ will be greatly missed.

As I reflect on the life of The King of POP,MJ, all the songs I adored began to play in my mind. Especially two of my most favorite songs and I wanted to share them with you. Not only are they songs, but songs with a powerful meaning...One, celebrating the diversity of culture around the world, without discriminating and two, the ability to make a difference in the world, starting with the person stirring at you in the mirror, YOURSELF!

What a busy weekend! I just returned from Chicago after attending the 2nd annual Blogging while Brown conference in downtown Chicago. Thanks to AT&T, I was awarded a scholarship to attend the conference with one of my dear friends from college, who is the AMAZING writer of the blogspot BlankBareClean.

The conference was planned to bring people of color together, who shared one common interest, BLOGGING! Yes, bloggers also have conferences too...About 50 individuals packed a conference room, bringing along their laptops and sons & daugthers (their blogs) to share & gain the wealth of knowledge. Amongst the discussion panelist were Hajj E. Flemings, founder of Brand Camp University, Milt Haynes, founder of Blacks Gone Geek, Angel Laws, creator & editor on popular on-line entertainment blog and Cheryl Contee, partner and co-founder of a social media firm, just to name a few.

Your Boo is alarmed by the lesions (blisters) on your lips, which is squamous cell carcinoma, the second most common skin cancer in the U.S.; due to the fact that you failed to apply sunscreen.

It's A Official!

Two days ago, I received my legal document to travel aboard, my passport! Yes! Now, I know some of you are saying, "Wow, she's late, I've been there and done that". I know, better late than never. The opportunities of traveling the world psychically and experiencing culture, fashion, beauty and Queens of all walks of life is endless. I am so excited! Actually, a few hours before I received my passport in the mail, I was discussing with a friend about how I can't wait to travel around the world in the future and go to London asap! A couple of my friends, who has traveled to London in the past, return home and express an urgency to visit London. So, I am and I will.

My list of U.S. cities to visit is coming along well and my international list will be created, scheduled, explored and checked off, PERIOD! No questions asked...

Although, there are no plans yet, to travel abound to experience life, culture, fashion, beauty and diversity. I will continue to explore through the World-Wide Web...

Summertime is near and I am in the process of finding the perfect fitting swimsuit. Year...after year...swimsuit...after swimsuit... I never felt 110% comfortable in my swim wear. Why? Well, it's all about the FIT, PERIOD! One of my rules in fashion is that if the shoe fits wear it--meaning if the fit, fits PERFECT wear it with no questions asked. But, when it comes to selecting swimwear I do ask A LOT of questions. When shopping for swimwear, my issue is that I can find bottoms to fit, but not a top that will give the coverage and support I need. When I try on swimsuit tops I am always frustrated, because 1.) the large size tops are still too small 2.) I don't have enough support--sagging is not cute, and 3.) It seems like there isn't really any sexy swimwear for heavier bust women, just the bra style tops in black and cream! Huh, NO!

After doing some research, I stumbled across a video from Glamour Magazine that offer some helpful tips on selecting swimwear that best compliments the different body shapes. From pear shape, to plus size, to heavy bust and more Glamour's Executive Fashion Editor, Suze Yalof Schwartz will share the secrets to finding the sexy, complimenting swimsuits we so desire.

Brazilian Waxes, Are They The New Razors?

Queens, its that time of year again...The time when body hair removal is a MUST! Throughout the winter months, I would sometime skip my shaves...legs, that is...But now that summer is almost here and my swimsuit is still calling my name at the store and my shorts are anxiously waiting to be worn, shavers are a MAJOR NECESSITY! However, two things that really irritate me about shaving with razors are skin nicks and RAZOR BUMPS! Razor bumps are so not cute. Shaving with razors creates folliculitis that are inflammation of hair follicles that appear as an eruption of skin surrounding hair or pores; resulting into annoying red bumps, or pus like bumps. Ewww!

So, why not trade the razors for waxes, a BRAZILIAN WAX!? For some of those, who are unfamiliar of what a Brazilian wax is, three words--NO HAIR, WHATSOEVER! All the hair is removed from your genitals to your buttock area only leaving a strip of hair in the front. Can someone say painful? Not only can the wax be painful, but there are some health concerns. Since, the Brazilian waxing is removing hair from an area with a lot of bacteria; there are possibilities of infections. If you are considering a Brazilian wax, please speak with with your spa technician about:

If the wax has been reused.
Treatment for negative reaction from the wax.
If the spa technician has a valid cosmetology license, if not, RUN asap!

Recently, there were two women hospitalized in New Jersey after getting a Brazilian wax, so, be safe if you do.

Racist Intrepration or Fierce Fashion Photography?

Although, I would be a little frighten by the mass and muscle of the Mandingo Warriors; I wouldn't mind trading places with Gisele Bundchen and I'm sure plenty of other women would agree--Whew! Where is my fan!?Besides, the eye candy of the Mandingo Warriors shown in the fashion photography, do you think there is a racial interpretation between African- American males and Caucasian women? Personally, I do not discriminate against love and see no problem with interracial dating and marriage, as long as both individuals truly and deeply love each other. However, I do have a problem with African American men being portrayed only as hustling sexual icons. I mean...Yes, women are attracted to men sexually, but let's not forget about the intelligence, the drive, the motivation and strength to succeed in life. After researching this photo shoot spread, it seems as if some people felt the photo spread intrepreted racial stereotypes of African- American men dating Caucasian women.

Do you love vintage clothing and accessories? I do, because vintage inspires my personal style and ideas. I love to stroll in and out of vintage stores, trying on clothing pieces and accessories. Often times, I transform into different characters, as if I lived during the time period when the garment or accessory was worn. During, the 1920's Flaggers and Zoot-Suits were considered the Liberation of Fashion. Today and always, fashion is a repeating cycle from the past. For an example, now, young women are wearing trendy hair accessories inspired by the 1920's such as, the feather hand-bands and elastic flower bands on their hair.

Honey: People have been comparing female R&B artists all over the blogs lately-- like Beyonce and Ciare, Rhinanna versus Keri Hilson. How do you manage to stay in your own lane?
LL:I think that there’s always going to be comparisons. All you can try to do is create your own thing. We’re women, so we all have a lot in common. We can only talk about a couple of things: love, relationships, how he did me wrong, he did me right, or I love him. A lot of us are sisters, but people are going to talk. You can’t control that.
Honey: How would you describe your personal style and the look that you're going for with this album?
LL: I think that I just go with whatever fits good and how I feel at the moment. I love pencil leg jeans — that’s always been my thing.

One of the hardest lessons I am learning, is that you have to sometimes KISS the things you love GOODBYE in your life. Whether a relationship, job, addiction, crowd of friends, etc, everything has its season; a season for awhile, or a season of a lifetime. I believe, if you let something go you love and it returns, then that's how you know it's for sure, it's for keeps in your life. Letting go is difficult and easier said than done, but capable of doing. If there is something in your life you need to kiss goodbye, kiss it and walk away BEAUTIFULLY! Things take time, so be patient with yourself.

One of my FAVORITE snacks is yogurt. I enjoy strawberry-banana, chocolate mousse and kiwi flavors, with a bit of granola sprinkles blended in, YUM! I believe yogurt to be a healthy snack you can add to your diet, especially if you are on the run, or, if you don’t have time to enjoy breakfast in the mornings. Yogurt has many wonderful health benefits for your body 1.) It assists in regulating the digestive system and 2.) Acts as a gentle chemical peel for your skin.

WHAT?! You may ask. You can use yogurt on your skin as an exfoliation cleanser? Yes. You read right. Dermatologist Researchers have discovered that yogurt can be used on the skin, to promote a smoother skin texture, by gently peeling off a thin layer of dry skin. How? Well, yogurt contains lactic acid, a naturally alpha- hydroxyl acid that promotes a smooth skin texture.

So, would like to see true results...Here's how:

1.)Apply a thin coat of organic plain yogurt to your washed face, like a cream.

2.)Leave on for about 15 fifteen minutes; show your face off with cold water.
3.)Afterwards, add a moisturizer to the skin.

4.)If you experience redness afterwards, add a cold pack for 10 minutes.

The Indian culture intrigues me, along with the latest designers, who are starting to design using elements from the exotic Indian culture. I love the rich embroidery costumes and lavish jewelry, especially the sari, which is the cloak worn around the women of India. I plan to visit the Taj Mahal Palace one day, after all, it was bulit for a queen, Queen Mumtaz Mahal.

Queens, its skincare time! I really heart the idea of having healthy, radiant skin. And, I hope you do too. Skincare has always been an interest to me, especially dealing with teenage acne in high school--It sort of shot my self esteem down. However, no dwelling on the past, it’s the present and future now and healthy, glowing, radiant skin is obtainable. First, by simply what we deposit in the human bodies. Through experience, I found certain foods were toxins to my skin and caused breakouts. So, since, I do not have health insurance to see a dermatologist, I just started playing the role for my own skin. Listed below are some awesome sources for radiant, glowing, natural skin that you could add to your diet. Try some!

1.Fish consist of Omega-3s, which is good for your body. Naturally, Omega-3s cannot be produce within the body, so adding an Omega-3 supplement to your diet, wouldn’t hurt. The Omega-3s act as lipid barrier-- capturing moisture. Salmon, Cod and Tipilia are sources of Omega-3s. I love SALMON!

2.Green Tea is an excellent antioxidant for your skin. Its fights against inflammation, aging and reduces ones risk of skin cancer. I love GREEN TEA!

3.Broccoli, yummy! This veggie is powerful. Broccoli consist of Vitamin A that decreases oil production, Vitamin C that detox, and Vitamin K that helps heal bruises.

4.Safflower or Sunflower Oil another excellent source of preventing dry skin, like Omega-3s in fish. Safflower/Sunflower oil is an Omega 6 fatty acid. You can use sunflower oil to sauté your salmon.

5.Almonds are a wonderful snack with great benefits. Almonds consist of Vitamin E. There are studies that show eating a hand full of almonds, will add moisture to the surface of your skin.

HB: There's this movie called Nappily Ever After. It's beautiful, funny, but has a deep message about women. Women slave for their hair! Not only does she feel different, but people treat her differently. She's now more like an alien than the hottest chick on the block. She's got to reboot and discover who she really is.

Does your personal style and fashion suffer from the gloom and doom of the rain? Well, mine does!

Rainy days for me are such a fashion disaster sometimes, because the rain has a method of damping my overall style for the day. The rain can be tricky, if not, mercifuless. It can change that style intended for clear skies, into a sloggy pie. For instance, when my wet, sticky stockings are suffocating my legs, or, when my natural hair becomes lion mane, with massive frizz. It can be FRUSTRATING and ANNOYNING!
Here is my equation I use:
Rain /Thunderstorms= Tennis shoes, baseball cap, & lounge wear
But this spring season, I am really going to work on not basing my 'today I'm going to wear'...decision off the weather conditions. Surely, you can still dress cute in the rain.

On the other hand, I am not celebrating the jean outfit trend. Look at the old fashion trend B and Jay were wearing back in 2003. Do you remember the fit baseball caps, whole piece jean outfits and jean jackets with the hoodie? I do.Personally, I hope the jean trend never reinvents itself, there are some styles I can welcome back, but for some reason...The jean style kills me! relief(sigh) This is more like it! I can gladly welcome these trends of fashion back with open arms! I love the look Beyonce is wearing (top image), freaky shoes, a simple dress, along with a fitted black leather jacket.

Sunglasses have the ability to make you look like a very important person, in which Queens, you are! What I love most about sunglasses is the protection they provide against the scolding hot sun. Ultraviolet lights are invisble rays from the sun that can be dangerous to your health. There are three types of ultraviolet lights: UV,UVB & UVC .UVB is the ray of sun that burns the skin and damages the eye. So, please ensure that your fabulous eyewear has UVB lens. Also, sunglasses give you the option of people watching without them seeing you scoping.

Yay! It's springtime! You know what that means...scandals and bi-weekly manicures and pedicures, FAITHFULLY! Today, I was treated to my first manicure and pedicure of the spring season, by my lovely younger sister. I was so excited! My nail salon visit was well overdue and greatly anticipated. For some reason, I always have a hard time picking a nail color and always end-up using the same shade on my toes and fingers--fuchsia. However, a new shade caught my eye "Done Out in Deco" "deco"meaning dent shade of arty lilac by OPI. Deco is featured in the Spring/Summer 2009 collection, South Beach.

I love the swimsuit, its FIERCE! "Clubbing til Sunrise" and "Feelin Hot-Hot-Hot!" are up next.
